WHERE ARCHITECTURE MEETS ART
THE CREATIVE JOURNEY FROM SKETCH TO ARTWORK!
Let me take you behind the scenes and share some insights to make you feel more connected to the process.
As an artist, my work is an extension of my background in architecture. Like designing buildings, my creations involve transforming 2D drawings into 3D pieces. This process requires a focus on composition, lines, and forms.
I put my architectural skills to work by first sketching simple lines on the computer and then shaping them into a 3D model. I keep tweaking until it feels just right.
Next comes the fun part - creating patterns for each layer and part. Using a laser, I cut these pieces from thin sheets of MDF (an engineered wood product) and assemble them like a puzzle, adding glue as needed.
Finally, I add texture and paint to bring out the unique character of each artwork. Soft, muted colours are my go-to for creating a tranquil feel in my art. It's my way of embracing a minimalist aesthetic that feels timeless and deeply personal, reflecting my unique style and vision.
Light and shadow exploration isn't just a part of my creative process; it's where the magic happens, especially in this lighter colour palette that I'm drawn to. Working with a single colour isn't limiting—it's liberating. It allows me to dive into how shadows dance with shapes and arrangements, creating visuals that feel uniquely alive and connected to the shifting light around us.
